DuBois Lady Lions Win Third Game of the Season
The Penn State DuBois women's basketball team (3-4) picked up a conference win as they topped Penn State York, 64-43 on Saturday afternoon.
The Lady Lions jumped out to a 33-13 halftime lead and never let the lead drop below 15 points in the second half to secure the win. "I felt that the girls really stepped it up defensively tonight and we controlled the tempo of the game by controlling the boards. We played a team that was much bigger than us on the inside and our girls worked well together to keep their forwards below their scoring averages," stated DuBois coach Pat Lewis.
The Lady Lions were lead in double figures by Mary Pillot (Bald Eagle Area) as she scored 19 points and Kristy Hanes (Elk County Catholic) who connected for 14 points. Linsey Mizic (Pottsgrove) chipped in 8 points and 4 assists. Koren McCullough (Purchase Line) and Grace Earle (Cowanesque Valley) grabbed 8 and 7 rebounds respectively. Juli Vokes (Brockway) and Ashley Brown (Otto Eldred) scored 9 and 6 points while Ashley Reitz (Punxsutawney) handed out 3 assists.
The Lady Lions return to action tonight (Dec. 8th) as they host Butler County Community College. Game time is 6:00.
