PSUD Wrestler Bryce Hanley wins Shipbuilder Invitational

Penn State DuBois wrestlers got back into action by traveling to the Shipbuilder Invitational hosted by The Apprentice School. The event took place at Kellam High School in Virginia Beach, VA. Three PSUD wrestlers made the trip, with Hanley claiming the championship at 235 lbs and John Prentice finished 2nd at 174 lbs. Also competing was John Miller at 197 lbs, John won 1 match before he was eliminated from competition.
Bryce Hanley (Jr.) made the drop in weight class from the 285 division to 235 for the first time in his PSUD career. Bryce usually weigh-in at 245-255lbs to wrestle heavyweight, but has made a commitment to lose weight for wrestling and baseball. Hanley won his first match by Fall over Mark Sizemore of James Madison Univ, then won by decision 4-2 in overtime over David Smith of Liberty University. In the finals he defeated Zack Sintobin of the Apprentice 6-1.
John Prentice (Sr.) finished 2nd losing 4-1 in the finals to Gina Sito of Alderson Broaddus. John advanced to the final with a Fall, a 21-6 Tech Fall, and an injury default.
John Miller (Fr.) lost his first match, won by fall in consolation bracket before being eliminated by David Trigg of Liberty University.
The wrestlers will be back in action next Sunday (1/28/18) when the travel to Jamestown, NY for Jamestown Comm. College Open.
