Bio

Whitney Lewis  -  Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach

Whitney Lewis is beginning her fourth year as Penn State DuBois Women’s Assistant Coach.  Her prior experience included serving as an assistant with Penn State DuBois from 2010-12 and 2014-15.

An ’08 graduate from Cameron County High School; Lewis was a three-sport athlete in high school (basketball, golf, and softball), as well as salutatorian of her graduating class as well as being named the CCHS Scholar Athlete.  In basketball, she was a two-time North Tier All-Star Honorable Mention selection, received the CCHS Hustle Award, CCHS Most Improved Player Award, a Punxsutawney Holiday Tournament All-Star, and DuBois Tri-County Sunday All-Star Team Honorable Mention.  She was also a two-time First Team All Star as a member of a three-time Penn York Champion golf team during her high school career.

Lewis earned her Bachelor’s Degree of Science in Elementary Education (K-6) with a concentration in Social Sciences and Middle School Math certification with a 4.0 GPA through Penn State DuBois and Clarion University of Pennsylvania.  While earning her degree, she played her freshman and sophomore years at Penn State DuBois under Head Coach Pat Lewis.  During her time as a player at PSUD, she was named United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) Academic All-American and two-time Pennsylvania State University Athletic Conference (PSUAC) Academic All-Conference.  She was selected for a chair on the Athletic Advisory Board during her two years as an athlete at Penn State DuBois and received the Coaches Award in her sophomore season.  Lewis was a team co-captain at Penn State Dubois.  She was the team’s third leading rebounder as a shooting guard in her freshman year and lead the team in assists and steals during her sophomore year.  She is currently seventh on the PSUD All-Time career steals list and eighth in career assists.  

After her sophomore season, Lewis transferred to Clarion University to finish her Elementary Education degree. While attending Clarion, she transformed from player to the assistant women’s coaching position under her father, current Head Coach, Patrick Lewis at Penn State DuBois.

Post college graduation, Lewis accepted a teaching position in Culpeper, Virginia from 2012-14.  In 2014, she was able to return to the Penn State DuBois Women’s Basketball Program when she accepted a teaching position in Brookville, PA.  She is currently teaching in Brookville and pursuing a Master’s Degree as a Reading Specialist through Clarion University while holding the Assistant Coaching
