DUBOIS, PA – The Penn State DuBois Nittany Lions continued their historic start to the 2026 season, improving to an unblemished 9-0 after a commanding double-header sweep of Central Maine Community College at Showers Field on Sunday, March 15. In the opening contest, DuBois showcased their resilience in a tightly contested 9-8 victory. Pitcher Zach Tiracorda set the tone, striking out nine batters over five innings while his brother Issac Tiracorda hit a grand slam to help his brothers cause on the mound. The offense provided a late-inning spark when Kaleb Stetler delivered a clutch two-out RBI single to drive home Aaron Miller for the walk-off win. The Nittany Lions left no doubt in the nightcap, securing an 11-0 mercy-rule victory in just five innings.

Highlights from the second game included, dominant Pitching from Zach Witherow who earned the win with four innings of one-hit, shutout ball, racking up six strikeouts. Stetler paced the lineup with three hits and three RBIs, while Lillard added a home run and two RBIs with Austin Mitchell closing the game with a perfect three-up, three-down fifth inning to preserve the shutout.
Saturday, March 21st the lions picked up a double header with Point Park University. The lions kept the hot bats rolling in Game 1, leading the team was senior Grant Lillard who blasted a solo homerun in the second inning and a double in the fourth inning going 2-3 with 2 RBI's. Freshman Lukas Colton was also 2-3 with a double and 2 RBI's on the day continuing his strong freshman campaign. Six members of the team all contributed with runs batted in throughout the game.
Game 2 was a very similar outcome with the home team taking the game 6-1. Freshman, Kaleb Stetler collected his first collegiant homerun with a first inning 3 run homerun to jump on top of the pioneers. The bats of the team would quite down the rest of the game but the pitching staff held strong giving up only 4 hits among pitchers Maclain Welshans, Zach Witherow, Jarrett Stover, and Josh Ross.
With multiple cancellations on their schedule, the team is back in action Friday, March 27 as they open up conference play at Showers Field against Penn State Fayette with start times of 6 and 8 pm.
