The Penn State DuBois baseball team continued its impressive 2026 campaign by completing a four-game conference series sweep of Penn State New Kensington this past weekend. Following the victories, DuBois improved to an overall record of 17-1 for the season and a perfect 8-0 in conference play.
The series opened on Friday, April 3, 2026, with DuBois traveling to New Kensington for a pair of contests.
Game 1: DuBois 2, New Kensington 0
In a defensive pitchers' duel, Zach Witherow delivered a masterful complete-game three-hit shutout. Witherow was efficient throughout, striking out seven batters without issuing a single walk on 67 total pitches. The DuBois offense provided just enough support, with Josh Stout recording an RBI sacrifice fly in the fourth inning and Kam Kushner scoring on a double-steal in the seventh.
Game 2: DuBois 7, New Kensington 1
The bats woke up early in the second game as DuBois plated three runs in both the first and second innings. Grant Lillard highlighted the early surge with a three-run home run in the first frame. Austin Shoup earned the win on the mound, and Austin Mitchell provided four shutout innings of relief to secure the victory.

Game 3: DuBois 11, New Kensington 3
DuBois found themselves in a 3-3 ballgame going into the sixth inning before Issac Tiracorda blasted a grand slam over the right centerfield wall giving the home team a comfortable cushion going into the 7th inning. Junior, Josh Ross came in to close the game out giving up only two hits in 3 innings pitched with 2 strikeouts.
Game 4: DuBois 13, New Kensington 3: The Nittany Lions finished the sweep in emphatic fashion with a 13-3 victory that ended after five innings due to the run rule. Senior Jorge Rodriguez powered the offense with a two-run home run over the center-field wall in the second inning. On the mound, Zach Tiracorda pitched a complete game to earn the win with 8 strikeouts.
DuBois is back in action on Friday Night at Showers Field against Penn State Shenango with games starting at 6 and 8 PM.
