Baseball completes a 3-game sweep Saturday at Shenango
The Penn State DuBois baseball team completed a first in program history, as the team captures 3 victories in a single day while they continued their dominant 2026 campaign this weekend with an impressive series victory over Penn State Shenango, showcasing both offensive firepower and pitching depth in conference play.
Entering the weekend with momentum, DuBois wasted little time setting the tone. They jumped out to a 5-2 lead featuring a Grant Lillard solo homerun over the left centerfield wall. The game was stopped during the 5th inning due to weather inclements. Umpires granted DuBois with the win as it was considered a complete game, but due to the PSUAC bylaws it was considered a halted game and would need to be continued before starting the next game in the series. DuBois would then travel to Youngstown, Ohio the following day to complete game 1 and start a double header after that. Game one became complete by the score of 5-3 as Josh Ross came into the game and got the team 6 outs giving up 1 earned run.
In games one and two of the double header, DuBois delivered another strong showing on the mound with highlight performances from Seniors McLain Welshans and Zach Tiracorda. The pitching staff controlled the pace of each game, limiting Shenango's offensive rhythm and keeping hitters off balance. DuBois pulled away late in game 1, turning a competitive contest into a comfortable win, as the offense erupted in the later innings, breaking the game open and showcasing the depth of the lineup from top to bottom with a 11-1 win in 5 innings.
Game two was the opposite of game one as DuBois jumped out to a 9-0 lead in the first inning and never looked back completing game two by a score of 16-2 in 5 innings. Senior Alex Gavlock lead the team offensivley with 6 hits and 6 RBI's for DuBois, Freshman Lukas Colton had himself muliple hits as well with 3 RBI's and
