Pierce Leads PSUD in 89-86 Win over WCCC on Road
Westmoreland County Community College served as the backdrop for PSUD as they open up the second half of their season. The first meeting between the two teams resulted in a last minute 2-point loss at home.
The first half started slow as baskets were exchanged for most of the 20 minutes. Competition seemed to be even match. Neither team was able to pull out to a double digit lead. Dubois struggled to knock down shots beyond the arc for the first 10 minutes; once they got going they were shooting in true PSUD fashion. Dubois went into halftime just down 3.
Dubois came out with increased defensive pressure in the second half forcing turnovers. WCCC continued to apply full court pressure as Dubois was able to break it for numerous layups. Dubois pulled out to a 13 point lead with just under two minutes remaining. WCCC caught fire beyond the arc hitting 3 three's in their next 3 possessions. Dubois was able to control play as they spent the remaining time on the free throw line. PSUD pulled away with a 3 point win.
Notable players for Dubois were: Pierce 34, Roselli 26 & 12, and Aucker 10. PSUD return to action on Friday, January 13th as they travel to Brandywine.
