DuBois sweeps New Kensington in conference play on Women's Senior Night; Men's team wins big
In the Women's final regular season home game (Senior Night), they made a statement to why they are one of the top 10 teams in the USCAA. The men roll to their second win in a row putting them second in the PSUAC West Division.
The lady lions came out in the first half of the game and amounted a large 25 point lead against New Kensington utilizing their speed to blow past New Kensington on multiple first half transition buckets. The ball was spread around the floor to all members of the team showing the selflessness of the team members. In the second half of the team did not slow down, holding New Ken to only 18 second half points making the games final score 76-34. Seniors who were recognized in tonights game were Rebecca Martin, Reagan Slawson, Eden Wonderling, and Frances Milliron. Coach Pat Lewis stated to the crowd after the game that last week during the Fayette win, Frances Milliron had broke the single game assists record with 18 assists in a game, and also had broke the record for most assist in school history with her 400th assist in last nights game. Rebecca Martin had also surpassed a milestone of 500 points where she currently sits at 506 points. The ladies are back in action on Saturday at Penn State Fayette in another conference matchup.
In the men's game, the script was very similar to the womens game. DuBois came out on fire, with eleven 3 pointers in the first half. The teamshowed great ball movement, effort, and effective scoring throughout the half. They went into the half with a 36 point lead over New Kensington holding them to only 28 points. The second half didnt show to be much different while DuBois stayed consistent with their strong defense, and scoring to out hustle their opponent in a final 108-61 end to the game. They are back in action tomorrow as they travel to Indiana University of Pennsylvania in a non-conference match up with the game starting at 7:30.
