Womens Volleyball drops two in Tri Match on Senior Night
The Penn State DuBois women's volleyball team met a tough test in their first game against their cross-campus rivals, Penn State Beaver. What promised to be a hard-fought conference clash ultimately tilted in Beaver's favor, as DuBois was unable to overcome key moments and fell in a match that highlighted both potential and areas for growth. DuBois came out aggressively, leveraging strong serving and well-placed attacks to seize early control winning the first set 25-21. Beaver came out in the second set and pulled away with a 25-11 win which led into the third set in which they took by a score of 25-17.
Needing to stay alive, DuBois entered the fourth set with energy, but Beaver maintained their composure under the spotlight. Beaver's front-line presence and stronger sideouts allowed them to pull away in the late stages. DuBois was unable to capitalize on a few match-point opportunities and had dropped the fourth set 25-21
In DuBois second game of the night they faced the Penn Highlands campus. The marathon match was contested by two very even teams and the scores showed. Penn Highlands took the first set 25-23, Dubois rallied for the second set to take it 25-22, the third set was another very contested battle the ended in Penn Highlands winning 25-22. With their backs against the wall DuBois came out to win set four 25-18 forcing a game 5 winner takes all. The final set was evenly matched with points altering back and fourth. Penn Highlands would take the final set 15-13. The women are back in action on Wednesday as they travel to Penn State Greater Allegheny in their final confernce matchup before post season play.
